These guidelines form part of Function's Terms of Service. Breaking them can cost you a post, an event, or your account.
List real events at real times. Don't misrepresent the price, the venue, the age limit, what's included, who's performing, or who's hosting. If something changes, update the listing and tell the people who are coming.
Don't refuse someone a ticket, refuse them entry, or throw them out because of their race, colour, religion, where they're from, their sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, or age. A ticketed event open to the public is generally a place of public accommodation, and the law says the same thing this section does.
Setting a lawful age limit is different, and it's allowed. If your event is 18+ or 21+ — because of alcohol, your venue, or the law — set it on the event and Function will enforce it when people try to get a ticket. That's the supported way to do it. What's not allowed is treating people differently by age beyond that limit.
Service animals and personal-care aides come in. The three-ticket limit is a cap on buying, not a rule about who may accompany someone who needs help.

Don't pretend to be another person, a venue, a promoter, a brand, an artist, or Function itself, and don't run an account or list an event in someone else's name without their permission. Parody and fan accounts must make that obvious in the name and bio.
Residential addresses are gated to confirmed RSVPs by default. Don't share a host's private address outside the platform, and don't try to get around the privacy window. Someone opening their home to strangers is trusting the gate to hold.
Don't post a photo or clip of someone who has asked you not to. Don't use anyone's name, face or likeness to promote an event they haven't agreed to appear at or endorse.
If a photo or clip of you is on Function and you want it gone, email hello@function.cx with a link. You don't need to own the copyright in it and you don't need a Function account.
Threats, hate speech, sexual harassment, and targeted harassment of hosts or attendees are not allowed here. Nothing is screened before it goes up, so Function depends on being told about it — section 11 covers how. Acting on a report can mean removing a post, unpublishing an event, or terminating the account behind it.
Hosts are responsible for the safety of their events, and everyone is responsible for their own behaviour at one. On Function specifically:
Hosts are responsible for complying with local noise, occupancy, alcohol, food-safety, accessibility and permit requirements. Function does not permit listings for illegal activity.
Cover photos, flyers, clips, and artwork should be yours, or something you have permission to use. An image found through a search engine belongs to someone. If you believe your copyrighted work has been posted here without permission, our Copyright & DMCA Policy explains how to have it removed — the in-app Report button is not the right channel for that.
Only people scanned in at an event can review it, and the platform enforces that. Write about what actually happened. Don't review your own event, don't ask anyone for a good review, and don't offer anything in exchange for one. Hosts must never make entry, tickets, or a refund depend on a review.
Function won't remove a review just because a host disagrees with it.
Use the Report button on an event or a post in the app. Reports go to Function and a person decides what to do about them — nothing is screened or actioned automatically.
Function doesn't publish a turnaround time, and can't promise that every report is reviewed, that it will be reviewed within any particular period, or that you'll hear back about it. Reporting something is not the same as it being handled, and it is never a substitute for dealing with an emergency yourself.
If someone is in danger, call your local emergency number. Function has no staff at events and no emergency line.

Events are run by their hosts, not by Function. Function does not organise, run, supervise, staff, insure, inspect or attend any event on the platform. It does not screen, vet or run background checks on hosts or attendees, does not verify anyone's identity, and does not inspect venues, check permits or assess capacity or fire safety.
You attend at your own risk, and Function is not responsible for what happens at an event — including injury, illness, disability, assault, sexual misconduct, theft, damage to or loss of property, harm involving alcohol or drugs, harm caused by a host or another guest, unsafe premises, and death. That is set out in full, together with the release you agree to, in section 6 of the Terms of Service, and the limits on Function's liability are in section 18.
Removing a post, taking down an event or terminating an account does not make Function responsible for an event or for anyone at it, and does not mean Function has taken on a duty to review, supervise or vet anything. Enforcement below is something Function may do, not something it promises to do.
In an emergency, call your local emergency number. Function has no staff at events, no emergency line, and no way to reach anyone on your behalf. Report what happened to us afterwards at hello@function.cx so we can act on the account — but we cannot help in the moment.
Violations may result in a post being removed, an event unpublished, or an account terminated, at Function's discretion. There is no suspended or restricted state — an account is either open or terminated — and terminating one is a manual decision rather than anything automatic. An event Function has taken down cannot be republished by its host.
We'll tell you at the email on your account if we terminate it, and say what we acted on, unless doing that would compromise an investigation or someone's safety. If you think we got it wrong, reply within 30 days and a person will look again.
